ABOUT KATE

Known around Bedford and Katonah for her exceptionally talented students, Kate has enjoyed being immersed in the teaching of all ages for the past 15 years. Her first studio, Hubbels Music on Hubbels Drive in Mt. Kisco, opened in 2014 next door to Jodi's Gym. Since then, she has been lucky to see students as young as four blossom into dedicated young musicians. She takes pride in running her current little Bedford Hills studio (full of cat coffee mugs!) a cut above the ordinary, and truly bringing out the unique strengths in every student (with a heavy dose of laughter along the way) . To Kate, music is a discipline that needs equal parts work and play, and both an art and form of joy that needs to be preserved. Many of her graduated students have continued to study music through college, and have gone on to have high achieving careers in law, computer science and engineering.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire, under the tutelage of George Loring (New England Conservatory), where she attended on talent scholarship. She also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching (Music) from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. She has studied the piano and other keyboard instruments (organ and harpsichord) with many esteemed keyboard professionals, including Loring, Scott White, Maura Glennon, Flora Kuan, Francis Brancaleone and Jean Newton.

From 2018-2020, Kate ran black-tie charity recitals at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center that showcased her intermediate through advanced students, plus special guest talent such as violinists Jaspar Rogal, Andy Bhasin and operatic soprano Jenny Beauregard. The ticket sales effectively raised thousands of dollars that were donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
When not working, Kate enjoys building and restoring lamps, horticulture, and 80s and 90s pop culture. She is also perpetually trying to finish fixing up her 1938 lake house with her musician boyfriend, Ian, and cats Nan and George.
Over the past decade, Kate has enjoyed being involved in a cornucopia of musical projects and odd jobs, not limited to working as an accompanist for the Chappaqua school district, releasing a 2014 harpsichord recording, getting scouted on the theremin for America's Got Talent, playing synthesizers for several professional tribute groups, and most recently, learning the bagpipes with the Stephen P. Driscoll Pipe Band. She is also a hired gun on bass guitar for several different bands, and coached a youth rock ensemble that competed in BandJam at the Ridgefield Playhouse, CT ('19 First Place, Middle School) and High School Rock Off ('22 Semi-Finalists) at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, OH.
